Debbie Weaver, Owner and CEO of Alaris, will be honored at the Missouri Lawyers Media Diversity & Inclusion Awards for her efforts in educating legal professionals on the importance of supporting diversity and inclusion. The Missouri Lawyers Media external diversity committee, which consists of statewide legal and bar association leaders, has chosen 21 honorees who will be recognized at the award ceremony on July 31, 2020 via webinar. Each honoree will be celebrated through pre-recorded video storytelling.
Weaver was an early adopter of the concepts of diversity and inclusion, receiving Women’s Business Enterprise status with the states of Missouri and Illinois along with attaining certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
In her 35 years of running a woman-owned business, Weaver has spearheaded several outreach efforts to educate attorneys and create attention focused on diversity and inclusion. A few of these include her support of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF). Through this partnership, she has provided various educational training opportunities that hit the mark, both in person and via webinar. Weaver’s efforts specific to those in the legal profession serve to raise a better understanding of unconscious bias and the benefits and importance of supporting diverse suppliers. In addition, Debbie serves as the business advisor to the Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis, which was founded to educate, promote, and support women lawyers.
The 2020 Diversity & Inclusion Awards will celebrate attorneys, firms and organizations who are significantly advancing diversity, inclusion, and the dignity of all people in Missouri’s legal profession and in communities in which exceptional legal work impacts justice for all.
